Geriatrics Requirement

The U.S. Population is aging - currently approximately 13% are 65 years old and older. In some areas, that percentage is as high as 20%. The fastest growing segment of the population are those 85 and older. Although many older persons enjoy good health, there are many who live with chronic diseases and physical disabilities thus, they make office visits more often. As a doctor, you will be treating a greater proportion of elderly patients with complex problems. Therefore, the demand for care will require a physician who is well trained in the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of geriatric medicine.

The Geriatrics Requirement for the M-I year has two components: The Annual Geriatrics Forum and the House Call visit

Completion of the Geriatrics Requirement will be reflected on transcript
